Hey, I’m Kirsten. I believe that each person has an ability no matter their personal background, story, trauma or life experience to build resiliency and increase everyday functioning when given the opportunity to feel safe, make mistakes, and relearn the impact of their voice. As a psychotherapist, I value the importance of helping clients ignite their voice through self-awareness, autonomy, practical skills and choice. When working with me you will notice that I value a client-centred approach that is grounded in kindness, patience and direct honesty. I really enjoy assisting clients in their healing journey by making small steps toward positive change and challenging clients for their personal growth through a respectful, honest and compassionate approach.
I bring extensive experience into your counselling sessions from the decade of work I have completed with children, youth and young women through street outreach, residential/transitional programs, drop-in centres, schools and coaching provincial sports teams. I have assisted individuals experiencing extreme poverty, complex trauma, addiction, unhealthy relationships, family conflict, depression and anxiety.
In my spare time, I like to be with my loved ones, while enjoying lake swimming, reading, staying active, cooking, and travelling.
