Hey, I’m Kirsten. I believe that each person has an ability to build resiliency and increase everyday functioning when given the opportunity to feel safe, make mistakes, and relearn the impact of their voice.
As a psychotherapist, I value the importance of helping clients ignite their voice through self-awareness, autonomy, practical skills and setting healthy boundaries. When working with me you will notice that I value a client-centred approach that is grounded in kindness, patience and direct honesty. I enjoy assisting clients in their healing journey as they make important steps toward positive change, while challenging clients to grow personally, professionally, socially, relationally and academically. I encourage clients to work through their discomfort versus running from it, which then allows their brain, emotions and body to regain control, choice, peace and autonomy.
I bring extensive experience into your counselling sessions from the 12 years of work I have completed with children, youth and young women through street outreach, residential programs, drop-in centres, schools, program development and coaching. I have assisted individuals experiencing extreme poverty, complex trauma, unhealthy relationships, family conflict, depression, low-self esteem, grief and anxiety.
In my spare time, I like to be with my loved ones, while enjoying lake swimming, reading, staying active, cooking, and travelling.
