My name's Susan and I became a psychotherapist because I believe we all have blindspots that can sometimes prevent us from living out the best versions of ourselves. When these blindspots go unchecked, it hinders our ability to have healthy relationships and make healthy choices. I have met people throughout my life, like many of you, who believe that "people don't change." This always felt so defeating to me, but I have learned that I cannot change someone else, nor do I have control over their choices, but I do have control over myself and the choices I make. Once I realized that, life became a lot more freeing.
I have seen how past trauma, and intergenerational trauma can impact the present, but I believe that cycles can be broken when we receive the right support, and do the work. We are all the work in progress and I love helping people explore different perspectives and by extension of that, touch and heal their wounds from childhood, previous relationships, and life experiences.
I work from a trauma-informed, attachment-based lens and I believe that our life and family experiences truly shape who we are. At the very core of our being, there is nothing more desired by each one of us, than to feel seen, heard, and acknowledged and I hope to provide that to each client in every session. I don't believe anyone is too far gone and I believe change can take place - I've seen it happen and that's why I love my job.
