CHILDREN

Children are experiencing so many things on such a constant basis now, we are seeing an increase in anxiety, depression, bullying, abuse, isolation, self-harm, and the list continues. We strongly believe in plugging children and their families into resources early, to proactively attempt to eliminate some of the long term impacts of these challenges.

We are now offering therapy specifically for children to help them learn to manage some of these symptoms and work through the underlying causes of their struggles. We strongly believe in providing them with the education and language so they can communicate what is happening for them, and installing positive belief systems to help build their resiliency.

We believe in working with the entire family unit, so not just one on one with the child, but also with the caregivers to help them manage some of the impact on themselves and the family unit. Each situation is assessed on an individual basis to really cater treatment and therapy to each person’s needs with the purpose of helping children and families create a safe and healthy environment so all can grow and flourish.

TEENS

Young people go through so many huge life changes throughout their pre-teen years to adolescence to young adult hood, and often need an external sounding board.

They need someone that isn’t their friend, and even more importantly isn’t their parent, to talk to, someone that is hopefully older and wiser, but gets it.

I find that when teens sit down with me, they are initially resistant to talking, and then after we talk through the confidentiality and they figure out that I’m super down to earth they relax and start talking.

It's when they start talking that we are able to get to the bottom of why they’re coming in in the first place. Sometimes they are feeling low or really anxious, they are struggling with the dynamics in their friend groups and where they fit.

Between the stress of school and extracurricular and then relationships on top of it, they are just waiting to break down.

Hopefully as we start talking and working through things we can help navigate some of those challenges and they can come out of their teen years with a more solid sense of self, purpose and identity.

ADULTS

When we’re young all we want is to get to the next stage, finish high school, start college, finish college, get a career, get a home, start a family the yearning continues.

The surprising thing to us though is that when we get to those moments we realize that there are lots of challenges and stresses that we have to deal with that we never expected.

BOOM.

We feel overwhelmed, under-qualified, overstressed, anxious, depressed and the list continues. This is where the counselling comes in, when we invite someone else into our journey it takes part of the load off and helps us start to see things differently.

Hopefully as we work through the various challenges that bring you into counselling you’re able to see the world a little more clearly, have some stronger boundaries and be able to prioritize what it actually is you want in your life, and create a stronger sense of self so you can handle the challenges that life throws at you.

couples

Being in a relationship and sharing our life with someone else can bring its own joys and its own challenges.

Having someone outside the relationship to talk through these challenges with, and to work through the issues that come up can be so helpful.

So often we struggle with communication, parenting, sex, addiction, or money just to name a few; and we feel like we can’t have a conversation with our partner without the other one shutting down or reacting and not listening.

Being able to work through our relationship challenges, the unmet expectations, and the desire for more connection can be so powerful.

We invite you to reach out, be brave, and start the conversation with someone. We have an incredible couples counsellor who would be happy to meet with you.

FAMILY

Let’s face it, we are all part of a family.

The family unit can be complicated as each of us has our own stuff, our own experiences and expectations, and let's face it - many families struggle with communication.

Family therapy is a great way to help each person be able to communicate and be heard in an environment where a therapist can help others understand. It can be so helpful for adjusting to change, grief, blended family units, mental health challenges and addictions.

If family therapy is something that you’ve been thinking about or considering, reach out. We have a great family therapy who is available and would be happy to meet with you and your family.
